Mustique and Canouan

Popular Islands to Visit

Canouan is best known because Donald Trump built an expensive resort there. Through his influence, the island now has an airport that can serve small planes. We can remember anchoring part way along the north shore of Charleston Bay. There was a bright glow as we looked east over the low ridge in front of us. I watched for quite awhile and finally assumed that the Trump resort had construction lighting so men could work around the clock. Just as I was about to go below, an absolutely mammoth moon crested the ridge, offering one of the most spectacular nighttime sights we have ever witnessed.

Mustique is to be found southeast of St. Vincent and somewhat off the line of islands that stretches from St. Vincent to Union. It is mostly a settlement of large homes owned by very wealthy individuals. It is fun to wander on the island and see some of the huge homes. Mustique also has a fine long beach for sunning, swimming or shell collecting.
